It’s Not A Magic Trick When You Understand

In the first part of this essay, we mentioned those who cited airplanes as evidence that man had broken, or “freed himself from”, the laws of gravity, whereas all we had done was to understand and adapt to (i.e. to obey) the laws of nature.

In this, there are similarities to our opinions on Divine Law.  Our conception of miracles is influenced by our relatively limited understanding of the Laws as revealed in The Word. We also overlook the fact that the Laws of Nature are material manifestations of these Laws (ref. “Letter Of The Law“).

The airplane did not herald a change in the laws of gravity, and miracles do not indicate “law-breaking” in the cosmic sense. They only reveal possibilities that have always been embedded in Creation (ref. “God’s Perfection: Basics“).

And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass,
than one tittle of the law to fail.

— Luke 16:17

We Don’t Know The Laws of Creation

Lack of understanding of a user manual leads to improper use of the machine in question. The Word provides a user manual for Creation (ref. “Mercy Is Not Random“). The person who has studied the manual in detail is capable of doing much more with the machine than the ignorant user.

In addition, some users are more talented or powerful than others, and as such can do more with the machine.

Christ could do things that were beyond human comprehension, but His actions did not break the Laws of His Father.  Just as a space rocket can go further than a bicycle without breaking any laws of physics, Christ being a Son of God can do more than a human being within the scope of the same Natural Laws.

If we accept the Perfection of God as a basic tenet (ref. “Human Expectations vs Divine Possibilities“), it is self-evident that Christ, who is a Part of the Creator of the Law, would always work within the scope of the Law:

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:
I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
–Matt 5:17

Follow Christ By Following The Word

Christ entered Creation to come to Earth, and in so doing he aligned Himself with the Laws of Creation. These same Laws are accessible to all human beings on Earth.

He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do;

— John 14:12

If we actually “believe” Him, which means we change our lives to act only alignment with The Word in all things, we will gain through experience a deeper understanding of God’s Laws and be able to apply them in more impactful and spiritualized ways than we currently do (ref. “Act To Experience To Know“).

Christ aligned with the Laws i.e. he fulfilled them. If we renew ourselves in The Word, we too can fulfil the Laws. Our works will then be in the same pattern as those of Christ, i.e. according to the same lawfulness.

Are We Actually “Advancing”?

Many modern technical achievements would have been viewed as miraculous a few centuries ago. We have grown intellectually, and we make increasingly better material use of the Laws of Nature (which are manifestations of Divine Law, ref. “Letter Of The Law“).

But it is more important for us to grow spiritually, and we have not done so. If we do this, we will also be capable of spiritual works that would be deemed miraculous by current standards.

The Divine Laws are the fundamental miracles. They are living, loving, and infinite in their scope and reach, while operating so simply and logically.

Miracles are activities that occur within the Law but are outside the scope of our current understanding, and we should thank the Lord for the wonderful Laws that provide these miraculous possibilities.

Today’s Resolution

  • We will hold to the idea of God’s Perfection while seeking true knowledge of His Laws.
