24. “The Law” vs Divine Law, Part 2: Spirit of The Law

This essay continues a sequence. Read the previous one here.

Real “Law” is living reality, not something written. Living reality must be lived to be understood. The Word provides the living path.

In the first part of this discussion and in “The Nature of God’s Laws“, we pointed out that advice based on God’s Will (e.g. “Thou shalt”) is not the same as an explanation of God’s Will Itself

The Word Is Truth

Truth explains reality. The Almighty Creator is the fundamental Reality; all else is derived from Him.

Only One in whom there is Truth i.e. a Part of God, can reveal or explain actual Truth (ref. “What Is Truth?“).  This One was Christ.

What Moses provided in the Ten Commandments was a guide to aligning with Truth, not a revelation of Truth Itself.

Moses gave you not that bread from heaven;
but my Father giveth you the True Bread from heaven.

— John 6:32

God’s Will manifests as the Divine Laws. Truth for we human beings is that which reveals the Divine Laws.

The Divine Laws that are the manifestation of God’s Will are also an expression of His Love (ref. “Will vs Love: A Divine Quantum Entanglement“).

Therefore, a correct explanation or true revelation of God’s Will would have to be based on love.  Christ’s Word, the True Bread, provides such an explanation.

Truth Is Love

Since Creation is a work of love, the goal and direction of the Laws of Creation is the expression and manifestation of God’s Love.

As we discussed in “Mercy Is Not Random“, the Omniscience that is within God’s Will and God’s Love ensures that the Laws of Creation provide infinite possibilities to help every man who requests in a spirit of true love and humility, in any situation.

Knowledge of the Divine Laws is knowledge of Truth, and in this gift of knowledge of Truth, i.e. the undeserved coming of Christ, is contained God’s Grace.

All that has been said above can be summarised as:

For the law was given by Moses,
but grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ.

–John 1:17

The Word, Truth, had to come to earth because we human beings had gone so far astray that we did not have the right understanding of any of the revelations that had been given through several prophets (ref. “Faith Is A Halfway House“).

Had we faithfully followed such guidance our experiencing would have provided the maturity to recognise the workings of Truth in the world around us (ref. “Act To Experience To Know“).

Christ’s Mission Was To Bring Truth

It was not only necessary for us to “revise” the guidance we had already been given (e.g. by Moses), but to understand the actual “why”, so that we could more consciously do the right thing and be less likely to stray again in the future:

To this end was I born,
and for this cause came I into the world,
that I should bear witness unto the Truth.

— John 18:37

The Truth contains life, and can therefore only be understood by the living of It, not through learnedness (ref. “On Human Words“). Therefore, Christ revealed Truth in parables, veiling It from the passive listener in such a way that only those who make an effort, those who actively seek in humility, will find the explanations of the Laws of Creation:

Therefore speak I to them in parables:
because they seeing see not;
and hearing they hear not,
neither do they understand.

— Matt 12:13

As has been discussed earlier, through humble seeking in The Word, and then through acting upon our growing understanding, we gain the experiences that are necessary to truly recognize and understand God’s Will (ref. “Act To Experience To Know“):

If ye continue in my word,
then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the Truth,
and the Truth shall make you free.

— John 8:31

It is therefore high time for us to concern ourselves with discovering the Laws of Creation in The Word.

Humble and open-minded exploration of The Word coupled with the daily effort to live 100% accordingly is our path to this.

Today’s Resolution:

  • We shall seek deeper in The Word, to uncover the Truths gifted to us by Christ.

  1. […] We already clarified this in “Letter of The Law” and “Spirit of The Law“. […]

  2. […] Our earlier explorations indicate that He preached the unity of Divine Love and Divine Law (ref. “Will vs Love: A Divine Quantum Entanglement“), that He made frequent reference to Divine Law, and that we are meant to identify the nature of these Divine Laws from His Word (ref. “‘The Law’ vs Divine Law: Spirit of The Law“).
